Suspect In Armed Robbery Arrested After 14-Hour Standoff With Police

A 14-hour standoff with police ended peacefully and without injuries in Neptune Township, authorities said.

The standoff followed an armed robbery and a suspect was taken into custody, Capt. Michael McGhee of the Neptune Township Police Department said Thursday, Nov. 17.

The standoff began Wednesday morning, Nov. 16 and ended at 10:33 p.m., McGhee said.

The armed robbery suspect barricaded himself inside a home at Atkins Avenue and 11th Avenue, McGhee said, and no one was hurt.

A SWAT team and State Police also assisted.

Additional details about the incident will be released with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office later Thursday, McGhee said.
